Regenerative Agriculture is a holistic approach to land management that aims to not only farm productively, but to keep water in the landscape, improve soil health, store carbon and increase biodiversity.
We have selected a number of “pick up points” where we will be there to meet you when you pick up your order.
When checking out, please indicate your preferred pick up date and time:
If you cannot make any of the dates or times, please contact us at freshtracksfarmwa@gmail.com to arrange a suitable time for pick up on farm in Myalup. Please note that at this stage we do not offer home delivery. We will send you a reminder email in the days leading up to your pick up date.
Please bring a valid form of ID (e.g drivers license). All produce will arrive frozen and are stored in a sealed cardboard box. We don’t provide cooler bags or ice bricks so you may also wish to bring an esky or car fridge to store your produce in.
We will not have cash on hand on the pick up day so please bring your bank card to pay for the balance of your lamb box as we have Eftpos facilities on your chosen pick up day.
All our beef and lamb is 100% grass fed and grass finished. We don't use chemicals, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers on our pastures. We are a small, family run farm and we have made the decision to invest the substantial cost of becoming certified organic into projects that aim to restore the landscape and ecosystem. These projects include tree planting, multi-species cover cropping, soil testing and fencing for restoration projects and grazing management. We are planning to offer farm tours in 2024, to increase transparency, strengthen customer confidence and to show off all the amazing projects we have happening on the farm.
Chickens that are raised in a way that allows the chicken to express its "chickenness" as pioneer Joel Salatin would say: in fresh pasture, with the ability to freely roam, scratch, and peck, improving the soil at the same time. Their homes, in the form of “chicken tractors” are moved onto fresh pasture every day and are given access to plenty of nutrients in the form of insects, worms, seeds, grains, and grass. These shelters provide shade and protection from the elements as well protection from foxes and birds of prey that frequent our farm. Having a controlled space where the chickens forage allows us to manage the nutrient and physical impact so it remains beneficial to our soils. They are raised from a day old in brooders until 3-4 weeks of age before they graduate to pasture where they live in their low stress outdoor environment. This, along with their varied diet translates to a more nutritious and better tasting final product and takes away the need for any hormones or antibiotics.
In Australia, the term ‘grass-fed’ is unregulated, which means it can be used to label meat that has come from cattle born on grass but finished on a grain-based diet. While grass makes up the majority of the animal’s feed, they may also be fed grain to supplement their diet when pastures are poor. Many “grass-fed” cows spend the last few months of their lives eating grain in feedlots to help them gain weight.
Our beef is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, on pastures that are chemical and fertiliser free. We rotate our cattle using a planned rotation program which ensures a constant supply of grass for our cattle. Apart from being delicious, grass-fed offers the following benefits:
Grass fed and finished beef is often said to have a complex, robust flavour and yellowish fat colour. Grain fed beef tends to have more marbling than grass fed beef, resulting in a more buttery flavour, and the fat is pure white. When it comes to choosing between the two, it’s simply a case of personal preference.
Lead butcher Andrew and the team at Pinjarra Meat Supplies expertly process and package the meat box orders for our lamb and beef. Our pasture raised chicken boxes are prepared by the team at WA’s only Micro-abattoir, Southampton Homestead.
We are just starting on our journey to direct market our produce and are currently selling in small quantities. If there is a consistent supply and demand for our produce, we will consider offering local delivery.
We hope to offer open farm days in 2024. Be sure to connect with us on our Instagram and Facebook pages to stay in the loop.
